Furman Men's Golf Inks Three To National Letters-Of-Intent

Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's golf team signed three prep standouts to national letters-of-intent during the fall signing period, it was announced head coach Todd Satterfield this week.

Austin Reeves, Matt Broome and James Field, Jr. will join the Paladin program in the fall of 2007.

Reeves, a local product from Eastside High School in Taylors, S.C., is a two-time all-region and All-Greenville County selection. The high school senior was a 2005 all-state pick and won Region 3-AAA Player-of-the-Year accolades as a freshman. He placed seventh at both the South Carolina Junior and at The Blade Tournament at Thornblade Country Club.

Broome, a native of Barrington, R.I., was a Future Collegians World Tour All-American selection and claimed medalist honors at the FCWT Newport National Classic in 2005. A prep standout at Barrington High School, he is a three-time Rhode Island All-State pick and three-time Rhode Island Junior runner-up.

Field, a native of Pinecrest, Fla., played his prep golf at The Gulliver School. He claimed Dade County High School District Champion honors in 2004 and 2005. The senior reached the quarterfinals of the 2006 Florida State Junior Match Play Championships.

Furman begins its spring season February 19, at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate in Orlando, Fla.
