Freshman Garland Ferrell Records Top 10 Finish

ANN ARBOR, Michigan - Furman freshman Garland Ferrell, a Greenville High School product, recorded a tie for sixth individually in his first collegiate tournament with a five-under par 208 at the University of Michigan's Wolverine Intercollegiate.

The Furman team carded its low round of the tournament Sunday, recording a 290 to finish with an 882 total. Ferrell recorded a two-under 69 at the 6,704-yard, par 71 University of Michigan Golf Course, while senior T.J. Blandford carded a one-over 72 to finish tied for 77th at 230.

Ben Goforth (Shelby, N.C.) was Furman's second highest finisher, ending the tournament tied for 56th at 222 after a final round 74, while freshman Jordan Felts (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) carded a third-round 77 to finish tied for 72nd at 228. Fellow freshman Jonathan Bowden (Easley, S.C.) tallied a 75 on Sunday and finished tied for 75th with a 229 tournament total.

Furman returns to action on Monday, playing in the first two rounds of the Adams Cup of Newport in Newport, R.I.
