Savannah, Ga. -- The Furman men's golf team posted rounds of 292 and 302 to grab a share of ninth place after two rounds at the Mizuno Southbridge Intercollegiate in Savannah, Ga., on Monday.
Jonathan Bowden (72-75=147) and Chris Gilliland (72-79=151) each carded even par first rounds at the par-72 Southbridge Golf Club to help Furman to seventh place before senior Ben Goforth (74-72=146) paced the Paladins with an even par second round as Furman fell into ninth place.
Winthrop (281-280=561) claimed the team lead after 36 holes at 15-under par while host Georgia Southern holds second place at six-under. Winthrop's Kelly Manders (69-68=137) took the individual lead on Monday at seven-under par after firing a second round 68.
The 15-team field begins final round action Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
