Macon, Ga. -- Jonathan Bowden posted a final round, two-under par 70 as Furman carded a 296 to finish in a tie for sixth place Tuesday at the first annual Brickyard Collegiate Championship at the Brickyard at Riverside in Macon, Ga.
Bowden (75-70-70=215) finished with a share of 16th at one-under after back-to-back rounds of 70 while senior Ben Goforth (71-71-74=216) carded a final round 74 to finish in a tie for 19th. Chris Gilliland (72-72-76=220) and Matt Hayes (78-73-76=227) each posted four-over 76 on Tuesday to contribute to Furman's sixth place finish.
The Paladins three round total of 872 marked its lowest tournament score in four tournaments this season.
Georgia (278-273-280=831) claimed the team title finishing eight strokes ahead of runner-up Clemson (277-276-286=839) The Bulldogs' Harris English (65-71-68=204) rallied past teammate Brian Harman with a final round 68 to claim individual medalist honors at 12-under par.
Furman returns to action October 15-16, at the Southbridge Intercollegiate in Savannah, Ga.
