Simpsonville, Ky. – Daniel Bowden, Matt Broome and Garland Ferrell each carded a final round 72 to help Furman to a ninth place finish on Tuesday at Louisville’s Cardinal Intercollegiate at the par-72 Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky.

The Paladins (291-297-289=877) notched their best round of the 54-hole tournament at one-under-par. Ferrell (70-75-72=217), a junior from Greenville, S.C., finished at one-over to take a share of 24th place. Freshman Anthony Aloi (71-76-73=220) finished in 36th while Matt Broome (74-75-72=221) and Daniel Bowden (78-71-72=221) each earned a share of 40th.

Eastern Kentucky’s Trey Bowling (65-70-65=200) posted a tournament low round of seven-under 65 to rally from a two-stroke deficit and take individual medalist honors on Tuesday. Kansas State’s Robert Streb (69-69-66=204) finished second with second round leader Espen Kofstad (67-66-72=205) settling for third place.

Louisville (281-280-273=834) used a 15-under-par 273 in the final round to claim first place nine strokes ahead of EKU and Kansas State. Denver and Indiana rounded out the top five.

Furman returns to action next week at the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate October 6-7.
