Middletown, R.I. -- The Furman men's golf team slumped to a final round 308 and finished 11th at The Adams Cup of Newport Wednesday morning at the Newport National Golf Club.
Myrtle Beach, S.C., native Jordan Felts (76-82-76=234) paced the Paladins in the final round with a 76 while Garrett Schneider (76-72-79=227) and Chris Gilliland (75-74-78=227) were Furman's highest finishers with identical 17th place showings.
The University of South Florida (297-296-301=894) rallied in the final round to take a one shot victory over Hartford and host Rhode Island. Southern Mississippi's Joel Myrick (71-69-73=213) shot a final round one over 73 to hold on for individual medalist honors.
The Furman Paladins will be back in action October 8-9, at the Coca-Cola Duke Classic in Durham, N.C.
