Newport, R.I. -- Ben Goforth and Garrett Schnieder each posted even par rounds to lead Furman (304-308-299=911) to an eighth place finish at the Adams Cup of Newport Wednesday at the Newport National Golf Club.

Goforth (74-75-72=221), with his third even par round in nine rounds this season, earned a fifth place finish in the 54-hole event. Schneider (76-87-72=235) finished 44th after struggling in round two while Jonathan Bowden (77-73-78=228) posted a 25th place finish.

Wichita State (289-302-299=890) took team honors finishing 11 strokes ahead of second place Southern Miss. Chris Gold (74-73-71=218 of Maryland grabbed individual medalist honors on the strength of a final round one-under 71.

The Paladins will take next weekend off before travelling to Macon, Ga., for the Brickyard Intercollegiate hosted by Mercer October 7-9.
