Adam's Cup of Newport Results 
Newport, R.I. -- The Furman men’s golf team recorded a 592 over 36 holes on Monday to hold fifth place after two rounds at the Adam’s Cup of Newport at the par-72, 7,244-yard Newport National Golf Club in Newport, R.I.
Senior Garland Ferrell (70-76=146) played the opening two rounds of the 54-hole event at two-over par, including a two-under 70 in round one, to grab a share of 12th place. Sophomore Matt Broome, a Rhode Island native, fired a second round 71 to move into 17th place at five-over 147.
The University of New Mexico (287-296=583) holds a one-stroke lead over Georgia Southern (293-291=584) and two-stroke advantage over third place SMU (291-294=585) following Monday’s opening rounds. Ohio State (292-292=588) and Furman (297-295=592) round out the top five in the 17-team field.
Final round action in the Adam’s Cup of Newport is set for Tuesday morning.
