Furman Finishes Fourth At Raines Development Group Intercollegiate

Florence, S.C. -- Sophomore Garland Ferrell fired a final-round best two-under-par 70 to guide the Furman men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at the Country Club of South Carolina.

Ferrell (72-72-70=214), a graduate of J.L. Mann High School, placed fourth after recording three straight rounds of par of better to lead the Paladins. Furman (298-290-293=881) posted its best 54-hole performance of 2006 to finish just seven strokes off the pace of first place Jacksonville. The Dolphins' Duncan Stewart (69-71-72=213) took individual honors.

Furman's Jordan Felts, playing in his first tournament of the season, notched a 17th place tie at four-over-par. Felts (75-72-73=220) and Garrett Schneider (76-75-73=224) both posted one-over-par final rounds for the Paladins.

Furman will return tto action September 26-27, at The Adams Cup of Newport in Newport, R.I.
