Ferrell Opens Season With 67 At Scenic City Invitational

Ooltewah, Tenn. -- Furman's Garland Ferrell carded a five under par 67 in his opening round of the season to earn a share of first place after the first 18 holes of the Scenic City Invitational at The Honors Course Monday morning.

The Paladins shot an opening round 297, but struggled to a second round 315. Play was suspended before the second round could be completed. Action will resume Tuesday morning followed by final round play.

After Ferrell and sophomore Garrett Schneider (70) helped the Paladins to a ninth place showing in round one, no Paladin broke 76 in the second round.

Robert Jamieson's four over 76 led the second round effort for head coach Todd Satterfield's squad.

Middle Tennessee State fired a first round 285 to take the early team lead. Rick Cochran of MTSU matched Ferrell's opening round 67 to share the lead.
