Greenville, N.C. -- The Furman men’s golf team carded a nine-over par 297 on Saturday to move into a tie for seventh after two rounds at the Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate at the par-72 Ironwood Golf and Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
Junior Daniel Bowden (73-70=143) led the Paladins with a two-under 70 to grab sixth place after 36 holes while junior Garland Ferrell posted a three-over par 75 on Saturday. He enters the final round in a tie for 37th place at nine-over.
Host East Carolina (291-292=583) maintained the team lead with a four-over 292. UNC Wilmington (302-290=592) moved into second place as Derek Wallace (72-68=140) fired a second round 68 to take the individual lead at four-under par. Newberry’s Ben Lown (73-68=141) also shot a 68 to move into second place and help his squad into third place. Furman is in a tie with Seton Hall and St. John’s at 607 (+31).
The third and final round of the Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate is set to tee off at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
