Blandford 12th After Opening Round At Bridgestone Golf Intercollegiate

Greensboro, N.C. - Furman's T.J. Blandford fired a one over 73, including a two under par 34 on the back nine, to grab a share of 12th after the opening round of the Bridgestone Golf Intercollegiate Monday at the Forest Oak Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

The Paladins totaled a first round score of 299 to hold eighth place entering Tuesday morning's final round action. The tournament was originally scheduled as a 54-hole event with two rounds to be played on Monday. Weather delays caused the coaches to vote on trimming the tournament to 36 holes.

Garrett Schneider posted a two over 74 on day one to grab a share of 23rd while Robert Jamieson and Ben Goforth each fired 76 in the opening round to account for Furman's 11 over par showing.

Lamar University (281) holds a three stroke lead over Xavier (284) entering the final round.

Final round action is slated to tee off Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. Oliver Bekker of Lamar took the lead after 18 holes with a six under par 66 on Monday.
