Paladin Golf Cards 291 On Final Day Of Furman Intercollegiate

Greenville, S.C. - Jonathan Bowden and Robert Jamieson both carded even-par rounds of 72 on the final 18 holes of the Furman Intercollegiate to lead the Furman men's golf team (300-295-291=886) to an eighth-place finish. Virginia Tech (297-286-290=873) won the tournament, holding a four-stroke advantage over second-place Elon (287-299-291=877).

Elon's Jason Judy turned in a 69 on the final 18 holes to win the individual crown by three strokes. Judy ended play with a 211 (71-71-69). There was a three-way tie for second place as Jacksonville's Duncan Stewart, Rhode Island's Ben Spitz and Stuart Carrihill of Charleston Southern all carded totals of 214.

Matt Hayes, competing as an individual, had the Paladins' best finish in the tournament, carding a 220 (73-72-75) to finish in a tie for 19th place. Danny Schmieding shot a final round 73 en route to a three-round 221 and a tie for 23rd place. After struggling with an opening-round 78, Jamieson rebounded to shoot back-to-back 72s and end competition tied for 29th overall.

Furman will return to action April 2-3, at the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C.
