Peffley, Maryland Take Lead Into Furman Intercollegiate Final Round

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Maryland's Blaine Peffley (70-69=139) moved into first place following a second round three under par 69 on Saturday while extending the Terps (289-289=578) grip on first place to seven strokes entering Sunday's final round at the Furman Intercollegiate at the Furman University Golf Course.
Behind Peffley's second straight sub-par round and a two under 70 from Tully Coyle, Maryland carded a 289 in Saturday's second round action. Chattanooga (299-286=585) posted the low round of the day with a two under par 286 to claim a second place tie with Samford (294-291=585). Furman (295-296=591) and Wofford (295-296=591) registered scores of 296 on in round two to remain tied in fourth.
Justin Newton of Elon fired a 70 on Saturday and trails Peffley by two strokes. Wofford's Neil O'Briain, who posted a tournament-best 68 on Saturday, is tied for third with Western Carolina's Matt Cook.
Furman used a team effort to remain in the hunt going into Sunday's final round. Garland Ferrell and Chris Gilliland both shot one over 73 while T.J. Blandford (71-75=146) continued to lead the Paladins overall holding a share of 16th place.
Final round action begins at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The Paladins are set to tee off of number one starting at 8:56 a.m.
