Garland Ferrell and Robert Jamieson each recorded even-par rounds of 72 to lead the Paladins to a second round 295 Saturday at the Furman Intercollegiate at the Furman Golf Club. East Carolina grabbed the team lead with a five-over 293.
Furman (300-295=595) enters Sunday's final 18 holes in 12th place and 14 strokes off of the pace. East Carolina holds a two stroke lead on Virginia Tech (297-286=583) who posted a two-under par 286 on Saturday.
Ben Spitz (71-70=141) of Rhode Island and Ryan Sypniewski (69-72=141) of Virginia Tech moved into a three-way tie for first with first round tri-leader Stuart Carrihill (68-73=141) of Charleston Southern. Seven other golfers enter the final round within two strokes of the individual lead.
Four Furman golfers carded even-par rounds or better led by Matt Hayes' one-under 71. Hayes, playing as an individual, holds a share of 12th just four strokes off of the pace. Braden List, also playing as an individual, joined Ferrell and Jamieson at even par.
The 54-hole tournament concludes Sunday with final round action beginning at 8 a.m.
