Paladins In Fourth After Two Rounds At Palmetto Intercollegiate

Aiken, S.C. -- Furman freshman Garland Ferrell posted a two-round total of 144 to help the Paladins to sole possession of fourth place at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C., entering tomorrow morning's final round.

Ferrell, who is tied for 10th place after two rounds, carded a one under 70 during the first round at the 6,565-yard Palmetto Country Club and fired a three over par round of 74 in the afternoon to place just three strokes off of the lead at the 12-team tournament hosted by USC Aiken.

Freshman Jordan Felts (74-71=145) is tied for 15th at three over par after two rounds while junior Ben Goforth (72-74=146) holds a share of 17th place at four over par with 18 holes remaining. Andrea Perrino (VCU), Jordan Irwin (Houston) and John Eades (Maryland) are in a three-way tie for first place with a one under par 141 following Monday's action.

After rounds of 289 and 293, Furman stands just eight strokes behind first place Virginia Commonwealth entering play on Tuesday.

Final round action is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
