Orlando, Fla. - The Furman men's golf team began its spring season at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate, shooting a 589 (293-296) over the first 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament. The Paladins are currently in seventh place in the 18-team field, led by Robert Jamieson's 144 (72-72) two-round total. Jamieson is in a tie for eighth place on the individual leaderboard.

Tulsa leads the team competition with a two-round 572 (288-284), behind the strength of individual leader Brett Myer's back-to-back rounds of 69. Tennessee-Chattanooga is just three strokes off the leader in second place.

After shooting an opening round 76, Furman's Garland Ferrell fired a 69 on the second 18 and is tied for 14th place overall. Jonathan Bowden (73-75) is tied for 32nd and Garrett Schneider's 154 (74-80) puts him in a tie for 77th place.

The teams tee off tomorrow at 8 a.m. to complete the two-day tournament.
