Furman Finishes Eighth At UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate

Orlando, Fla. -- Furman carded back to back rounds of 299 to finish in a tie for eighth at the UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando, Fla.

Individually, the Paladins struggled to find consistency. Ben Goforth (75-72-77=224), following a first round 75 on Monday, scored an even par in round two, but faded with a final round 77 to finish in 28th. T.J. Blandford also fired an even par 72 in round two, but posted a 76 in round three to finish 32nd with a 226.

Sophomore Chris Gilliland recorded a one over 73 in the final round to pace the Paladins while Jonathan Bowden shot a two over 74.

Lamar University took team honors with a final round 288 to finish with a three round total of 877. Casey Clendenon notched individual honors on the strength of a three under 69 in the final round.

The Furman men's golf team will be back in action February 27-28, at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.
