Furman's Harper Ties For 18th At Bank Of Tennessee Intercollegiate

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -- Junior Keller Harper (-4) notched a final-round 71 to tie for 18th to lead the Furman men's golf team this weekend at the 21st Annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,147 yard Blackthorn Club at The Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.

Harper, a native of Atlanta, Ga., eagled the par-5 No. 5 and added a birdie on No. 14 to pace the Paladins in the final day of play.  Freshman Owen Burden (+2) shot a 74 with three birdies to tie for 47th, while junior Connor Bruns (+6) carded a 73 with birdies on No. 6 and No. 18 on Sunday to tie for 63rd.

Senior Scott Purvis (+7) tied for 66th after tallying a 74 with three birdies in the final round, and junior Matt Lehman (+8) placed 69th after scoring a 78 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 8 in Sunday's round.  

Simon Zach (-15) of Louisville won individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 63-72-66=201. Host East Tennessee State (-32) one the tournament by one stroke over Louisville (-31), and Tennessee (-29) took third place.  Kent State (-25) placed fourth, followed by Virginia Tech (-19) in fifth place.  The Paladins (+6) finished 13th.

Furman will compete at the Camden Collegiate Invitational October 20-21 in Camden, S.C.
