JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -- Juniors Keller Harper (-3) and Matt Lehman (+2) each carded a 71 to pace the Furman men's golf team Saturday in the second round of the 21st Annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,147 yard Blackthorn Club at The Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.
The Paladins teed off on No. 10 Saturday, and Harper, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., birdied two of his first three holes and turned at one-under before adding a third birdie on No. 1. He enters Sunday's final round tied for 25. Lehman, who paced the Paladins with four birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 12 and No. 13, is tied for 48th after recording the second-round 71.
Freshman Owen Burden (E) notched a 73 with birdies on No. 1 and No. 5 to tie for 39th, while junior Connor Bruns (+5) and senior Scott Purvis (+5) are tied for 60th following two rounds of play. Burns eagled the par-5 No. 8 and added two birdies for a 73 on Saturday, and Purvis scored a 75 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 10.
Shiso Go (-13) of East Tennessee State leads the tournament with a two-round total of 63-68=131, as the host Bucs hold a two-stroke lead over Kent State (-25). Tennessee (-21) is in third, followed by Louisville (-2) one stroke back in fourth. Missouri (-11) and Virginia Tech (-11) are tied for fifth. The Paladins (+2) are in 13th place heading into Sunday's final round.
Furman will tee off of No. 10 beginning at 8:50 a.m. on Sunday in the final round of the 54-hole tournament and will play in a group with Villanova and various individuals.
