Harper Ties For 37th To Pace Paladins In Final Day Of Bank Of Tennessee Intercollegiate

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -- Sophomore Keller Harper (+1) fired a final round 70 to tie for 37th to lead the Furman men's golf team Sunday at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,147 yard Blackthorn Club at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.  

Harper, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., teed off of No. 10 and recorded three straight birdies on holes No. 14 through 16 then added an additional birdie on No. 4 to finish the round at one-under par.  Junior Connor Bruns (+3) eagled the par-5 No. 8 and added three birdies to lead Furman with a 70 on Sunday and finish in 46th place.

Sophomore Scott Purvis (+7) and sophomore Matt Lehman (+7) tied for 59th.  Lehman carded a 75 on Sunday, while Purvis added a 78 with two birdies in the final round.  Senior Hunter Nichols (+11) tied for 71st after adding a 78 in Sunday's third round. 

No. 48 Penn State (-31) won the tournament by nine strokes over Kent State (-22), and Louisville (-21) was one stroke behind in third.  Missouri (-18) finished fourth, followed by Coastal Carolina (-12) and Tennessee (-11) who tied for fifth.  Furman (+15) turned in a 13th-place finish.  Missouri's Hayden Buckley (-12), who led after two rounds, claimed individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 68-64-677=199.

The Paladins will conclude the fall season at the Palmetto Collegiate Championship in Camden, S.C., Oct. 21-22.
