Purvis Continues To Lead Furman At Bank Of Tennessee Intercollegiate

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -- After two rounds of play, sophomore Scott Purvis (+1) continues to lead the Furman men's golf team at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,147 yard Blackthorn Club at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.  

Purvis, a native of Mason, Ohio, carded a 74 with three birdies on Saturday and enters Sunday's final round in a tie for 39th.  Sophomore Keller Harper (+3) also scored a 74 in round two, notching birdies on No. 12 and No. 18, and is tied for 53rd.

Junior Connor Bruns (+4) and sophomore Matt Lehman (+4) are tied for 56th after two rounds of competition.  Bruns posted a team-best 73 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 11 on Saturday, while Lehman scored a 76 with back-to-back birdies on No. 13 and No. 14.  Senior Hunter Nichols (+5), who tied Bruns with a team-leading 73 in round two, paced the Paladins with five birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to end the round, and is tied for 62nd heading into Sunday's play. 

No. 48 Penn State (-27) extended its lead to nine strokes in Saturday's second round.  Only one stroke separates the next three teams, as Missouri (-18) is in second, just one stroke ahead of Kent State (-17) and Louisville (-17).  Tennessee (-14) completes the top five.  Furman (+9) is in 13th place following two rounds of play. Missouri's Hayden Buckley (-12) took the individual lead with a two-round total of 68-64=132.

The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Sunday with teams going off of No. 1 and No. 10 starting at 8:30 a.m.  Admission is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via and
