GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's golf team will open the 2017-18 season this weekend at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the par 72, 7,112 yard Cedar Rapids Country Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The 54-hole tournament begins Sunday and continues through Tuesday. Play will begin on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. CT, with Furman going off of No. 1. The Paladins will play in a group with Eastern Michigan and Sacramento State in Sunday's first round.
Furman will be joined in the 15-team field by Campbell, Eastern Michigan, Georgia, Iowa, Lipscomb, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, North Carolina State, Sacramento State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Southern Illinois, UNC Wilmington, and Washington State.
"The guys are really excited to get the season started," said Furman head coach Todd Satterfield, who is entering his 22nd year at the helm of the Paladin program. "So far practices have been going very well and the qualifying was extremely competitive for the Golfweek Conference Challenge. We've heard a lot of great things about Cedar Rapids Country Club, and I know the guys will be ready to go on Sunday."
Last season Bruns led the team with an 11th-place finish at the Southern Conference Championships. Bruns posted a 74.2 stroke average over 31 rounds, tops among all of the Furman returnees.
