Harper Leads Paladins With 22nd Place Finish At Clemson Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Freshman Keller Harper (+7) carded a final-round 74 to tie for 22nd place to lead the Furman men's golf team Sunday in the last day of the Clemson Invitational Sunday at the par 72, 7,103 yard The Cliffs at Keowee Falls in Sunset, S.C. 

Harper, a native of Atlanta, Ga., notched five birdies on Sunday, including four on the back nine, while senior Bryce Howell (+15) also added a 74 with birdies on No. 8 and No. 10 to tie for 45th.  Sophomore Connor Bruns (+16) finished 47th after scoring a 77 with birdies on No. 8 and No. 16 in the final round, and sophomore Garrison Hogan (+20) paced the Paladins with an even 72 with five birdies to move into a tie for 53rd.  Junior Hunter Nichols (+21) carded a 76 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 18, tying for 57th place.

Patrick Cover (-5) of UNC Wilmington claimed individual medalist honors after firing a seven-under 65 on Sunday for a three-round total of 211.

No. 18 Clemson (-6) won the tournament by 14 strokes, marking its fifth-straight tournament victory this season.  Georgia Tech (+9), ranked 21st nationally, placed second, followed by No. 38 Alabama (+14) in third.  SMU (+21) took fourth, and College of Charleston (+22) rounded out the top five.  The Paladins (+54) finished in 11th place.

Furman will compete at the Southern Conference Championships April 23-25 in Pinehurst, N.C.
