Harper Tied For 21st At Clemson Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Freshman Keller Harper (+5) shot an even 72 to tie for 21st place to lead the Furman men's golf team in the second round of the Clemson Invitational Saturday at the par 72, 7,103 yard The Cliffs at Keowee Falls in Sunset, S.C. 

Harper, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., eagled the par-5 No. 9 and added birdies on No. 3 and No. 16 to pace the Paladins.  Sophomore Connor Bruns (+11) scored a team-high four birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 2 and No. 3, for a 73 on Saturday.  Bruns is tied for 41st entering Sunday's final round.

Senior Bryce Howell (+13) carded a 78 with a birdie on No. 16 to tie for 50th, while junior Hunter Nichols (+17) is tied for 58th after adding a 77 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 11 in the second round.  Sophomore Garrison Hogan (+20) birdied No. 13 to tally a 79 on Saturday.  He is tied for 63rd heading into Sunday's play.

William Rainey (-3) of College of Charleston, who ranks 79th nationally, and Georgia Tech's James Clark are tied for the individual lead with a two-day total of 141.

No. 18 Clemson (-2) paced the field with a 280 on Saturday to take a five-stroke lead over 21st-ranked Georgia Tech (+3).  No. 38 Alabama (+6) is third, while SMU (+15) moved into fourth place after two rounds.  College of Charleston (+16) completes the top five.  The Paladins (+46) are tied for tenth place with Boston College (+46). 

Furman will tee off of No. 10 at 9:50 a.m. on Sunday in the final round of the 54-hole tournament.  The Paladins will play in a group with Boston College and Winthrop.  Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via and
