Howell Ties For Second At Bank Of Tennessee Intercollegiate

JONESBOROUGH, TENN. -- Senior Bryce Howell (-11) tied for second to lead the Furman men's golf team Sunday in the final day of the 19th annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,147 yard Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough, Tenn. 

For the second-straight day, Howell fired a 68 with five birdies to finish the round 11-under, just two strokes back of Penn State's Charles Huntzinger, who carded a 66-68-69=203 to tie the tournament record and claim individual medalist honors.

Sophomore Connor Bruns (+3) shot an even 72 for the second-consecutive round to tie for 38th, and redshirt freshman Jake Reilly (+6) carded a 73 with four birdies, including back-to-back birdies on No. 3 and No. 4, to tie for 57th.  Rookie Stephen Cerbara (+12) placed 72nd, and junior Hunter Nichols finished 82nd.  

No. 17 Virginia (-35) set a new tournament record with a three-round 829 to claim the team title.  No. 24 Missouri (-22) was second, followed by 14th-ranked Kent State (-15) in third.  UNC Wilmington (-8) finished fourth, and Virginia Tech (-3) and East Tennessee State (-3) tied for fifth.  The Paladins (+10) tied for 13th with Tennessee (+10).

Furman will conclude the fall season at the Palmetto Collegiate Championship in Camden, S.C., Oct. 22-23.
