Furman Men's Golf Signs Three To National Letters Of Intent
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman head men's golf coach Todd Satterfield announced today the signing of Adam Garrett, Gray Townsend, and Hunter Nichols to national letters of intent.
"We are very excited about this signing class that we are adding to our young and talented team," said Satterfield. "All of these guys are very seasoned players and will contribute immediately next fall."
A four-time all-region selection and two-time All-State honoree, Easley, S.C., native Adam Garrett helped the Green Wave to the 2012 high school state championship. Garrett is the grandson of Jimmy Satterfield, who served as Furman's head football coach from 1986-1993 and guided the Paladins to the 1998 NCAA I-AA National Championship.
Townsend hails from Winston-Salem, N.C., and attends Forsyth Country Day. This past summer, he carded three consecutive 69s to earn individual medalist honors in the boys' division at the AJGA William Penn Junior.
Nichols, a native of Clinton, S.C., placed third at the 2013 South Carolina 3A Championships. A four-time all-region honoree, Nichols was twice selected to the All-State team and was a medalist at the 2013 CGA Junior Tournament.
