Duluth, Ga. – The Furman men's golf team posted a first round 303 and second round 306 on the opening day of the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic on Monday to hold 12th place at the par-71, 6,679-yard Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth, Ga.
Senior Anthony Aloi, tied for 31st after two rounds, paced the Paladins with a three-over 74 in the morning and five-over 76 in the afternoon round. The Plainsboro, N.J., native, who began on the shotgun start at No. 4, birdied three holes in the opening round and two during round two.
Fellow senior Johnny Kyger rebounded from a first round 78 by firing a four-over 75 in round two. The Salisbury, N.C., product is tied for 46th after 36 holes.
Georgia Southern (+1) posted rounds of 283 and 286 to grab a 12-stroke lead over host and second place Georgia State (+13). Mercer (+17), Winthrop (+19) and Chattanooga (+22) rounded out the top five in the 16-team field.
South Carolina's Dykes Harbin (-4) took a three-stroke lead after two rounds on the strength of a five-under 66 in round one and a second round 72.
Final round action begins on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
