
Chapel Hill, N.C. – Seniors Matt Brown and Anthony Aloi each carded a three-over 75 on Sunday to lead the Furman's men's golf team in the final round of the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at the par-72 UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Brown, a Brookeville, Md., product, notched two birdies in his final round to finish the tournament at nine-over par and claim a share of 45th place. Aloi, who redshirted last season, recorded one birdie and played his final nine holes at one-over to share 62nd place.
The Paladins struggled to a final round 305 and finished last in the 14-team field. Charlotte (+9), North Carolina State (+10) and East Tennessee State (+13) rounded out the top five finishers.
Duke (-8) compiled a one-over 289 on Sunday to claim a six-stroke victory over tournament host North Carolina (-2). Charlotte (+9), North Carolina State (+10) and East Tennessee State (+13) rounded out the top five finishers.
Albin Choi of North Carolina State shot a four-under 68 on Sunday to claim individual medalist honors at 11-under par.
Furman is back in action September 24-25, at the Cardinal Intercollegiate in Louisville, Ky.
