Baton Rouge, La. – J.B. Murphy carded a final round 71 and Austin Reeves fired a 73 to lead the Furman men's golf team to a 10th place finish on Sunday in the LSU Invitational at the par-72, 7,346-yard University Club.
Murphy, who finished in a tie for 35th at 10-over par, played The University Club's four par-fives at three-under and birdied a total of four holes over the final 18 holes to pace the Paladins in final round play. Reeves (+9) birdied three of his final six holes to shoot one-over and earn a share of 29th place.
Furman posted a final round 299 to claim a share of 10th place with Michigan at 43-over while the host LSU Tigers (-11) shot a third-round 279 to edge second place Iowa (-9) by two strokes.
LSU's Austin Gutgsell used a seven-under 65 on Sunday to capture individual medalist honors at nine-under par.
Furman returns to action April 15-17, at the Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship.
