GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman fullback Jerome Felton has been named to College Sporting News' Fabulous Fifty All-America team, it has been announced.
Felton, a 6-foot, 239-pound senior, was named to the CSN squad for a third consecutive year. The CSN squad is designed to be like a real team, capable of taking the field and competing in a game. It includes everything, from quarterbacks who can run or pass and often-overlooked fullbacks, to long snappers and other special teams performers. The Fabulous Fifty also emphasizes players who have exhibited character and other team-oriented traits, not just lofty statistics, or talent.
A four-year starter, the Madisonville, Tenn., native and three-time All-Southern Conference selection rushed for a team leading 705 yards and 12 touchdowns this year and finished his career as the top rushing fullback (2,652 yards) in Furman history and the school's all-time leading scorer (414 points). He sports a 3.28 grade point average in political science and has completed all requirements for graduation.
Felton will compete in the 83rd Annual East-West All-Star Shrine Game in Houston, Texas, on Jan. 19.
