Nov. 21, 2005

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Saturday's Furman-Nicholls State NCAA I-AA playoff game will be televised by Comcast-Charter Sports Southeast (CSS), it has been confirmed. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. at Paladin Stadium.

CSS spans 11 southeastern states and is available in more than 4.5 million homes, including South Carolina's Upstate over Charter Cable (channel 58).

Furman defeated Chattanooga 56-35 last Saturday to finish the regular season with a 9-2 overall record and 5-2 Southern Conference slate. The Paladins, who earned an at-large berth to this year's 16-team playoff field, will be making their 14th playoff appearance.

Nicholls State downed McNeese State 39-26 on Saturday to claim a share of the Southland Conference crown with Texas State and capture the league's automatic playoff bid. The Colonels, who had games against Southern Utah and Western Carolina cancelled due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, bring a 6-3 record to Paladin Stadium.

The winner of the Furman-Nicholls State game will play the winner of Saturday's Hampton-Richmond contest on Dec. 3 at a site and time to be announced.

The NCAA I-AA national championship game is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 16 at Chattanooga's Max Finley Stadium.

Tickets to Saturday's first round playoff game versus Nicholls State are $20 for adults, $10 for children (12 and under), and $5 for Furman students. The Furman Ticket Office will be open Monday-Wednesday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Friday from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., and on Saturday at Paladin Stadium beginning at 10:30 a.m. The ticket office will be closed Thursday. The ticket office phone number is 864-294-3099.
