GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman quarterback Renaldo Gray has been named Southern Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week for his performance in the Paladins' 52-21 win over Western Carolina on Saturday.
Gray, a 6-0, 226-pound senior playing in his final collegiate game, registered 292 yards in total offense and three touchdown responsibilities in the victory. He completed 12-of-18 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown and rushed 14 times for a career high 122 yards and two touchdowns. His scoring toss covered 58 yards in the second quarter, and his touchdown runs covered four and 37 yards, with the 37-yarder marking a career best.
The Greenwood, S.C., product exited the game in the third quarter after directing Furman to a 45-7 lead. His strong play keyed a Paladin offense that rolled up 538 total yards in the contest.
Furman's victory over Western Carolina capped three-game season ending winning streak that included triumphs over a pair of Top 15-ranked teams, including Elon (52-49) and Georgia Southern (24-22).
