Oct. 22, 2007

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Coming off a 28-22 win at Chattanooga and second straight road game, Furman returns home to entertain 10th-ranked Appalachian State at Paladin Stadium in a 3:00 p.m. contest that will be televised by SportSouth.

Furman, now 3-4 overall and 1-2 in SoCon play, has won four of its last five clashes with Appalachian State in Greenville, including a 34-31 victory in 2005. Overall the Paladins sport a 13-4-1 mark versus the Mountaineers in Greenville.

Appalachian State owns a 5-2 season record, including a 34-32 season opening win over Michigan, but the Mountaineers find themselves tied for sixth place in SoCon play with a 1-2 league mark. ASU dropped a 38-35 decision to Georgia Southern last Saturday in Boone, which snapped the Mountaineers' school record 30-game home winning streak.

Twenty three of the series' 38 games have been decided by nine points or less, and the seven ASU-Furman games from 2000-05 were settled by a total of 21 points. In addition, the home team has won 10 of the last 11 games.
