GREENVILLE, S.C -- Furman tailback/return specialist Mike Brown has been named Southern Conference Freshman-of-the-Week for his play in Furman's 54-51 overtime loss to The Citadel in Charleston on Saturday, the league announced today.
Brown, a redshirt freshman from Marietta, Ga., had three kickoff returns for 129 yards, including a 76-yard return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. He also caught three passes for 21 yards against the Bulldogs. His kickoff return was the first by a Paladin since William Middleton recorded a 100-yard return in a 35-21 win over Wofford in 2006.
Furman returns to action this Saturday when it travels to Chattanooga to face the Mocs in a noon game that will be televised by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS).
