NCAA I-AA nationally second-ranked Furman hits the road this Saturday for the fourth time this season when it takes on 21st-ranked Appalachian State in Boone, N.C., in a key Southern Conference matchup for both teams. The game will be televised by Fox Sports South Network beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Furman, which opened conference play last Saturday with a 31-10 triumph in Greenville over Western Carolina, takes a 4-1 record into its game versus Appalachian State. The Paladins kicked off the year with consecutive victories over Presbyterian (52-7), Samford (45-10), and Gardner-Webb (38-6) before dropping an overtime decision to Pittsburgh (41-38) on Sept. 25.
Appalachian State downed Texas State 41-34 on Saturday to improve to 3-2 on the campaign. The Mountaineers opened the season with a loss to Wyoming (53-7) but bounced back to whip Eastern Kentucky (49-21) and The Citadel (28-14) before falling at Northwestern State (40-35) on Sept. 25.
