ESPNU To Televise Sept. 16 Furman-North Carolina Football Game

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman Paladins' Sept. 16 football game against the North Carolina Tar Heels will be televised by ESPNU beginning at 7:00 p.m., it has been announced.

The Furman-North Carolina game marks the second scheduled live television appearance for the Paladins this fall. Furman's Sept. 2 season opener against Jacksonville State in Greenville will be televised by College Sports Television (CSTV) beginning at 1:30 p.m.

ESPNU is available through Dish Network (Channel 148) and DirecTV (Channel 604). CSTV broadcasts are available through Dish Network (Channel 152) and DirecTV (Channel 610).

Several other Paladin contests are currently under consideration for broadcast by regional networks, including Comcast-Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) and Fox Sports Network-South (FSN).

Furman defeated North Carolina 28-3 in 1999 in the last meeting between the two schools. The Paladins return 15 starters off a 2005 squad that posted an 11-3 record and advanced to the semifinal round of the NCAA I-AA playoffs. Furman was ranked No. 3 in the final 2005 Sports Network Poll.
