GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman Paladins fullback Jerome Felton is set to participate in the 83rd annual East-West Shrine All-Star Game, which will be played Saturday, Jan. 19, at the University of Houston's Robertson Stadium. Kickoff for the contest, which will be televised live by ESPN2, is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
Felton, who will represent the East squad, led Furman in rushing in 2007 with 705 yards and 12 touchdowns. The 6-foot, 242-pound Paladin standout finished his career at the top rushing fullback (2,652 yards) and leading scorer (414 points) in school history.
Earlier this month he became Furman's first All-America fullback when he was named to the 2007 Sports Network Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) first team. He was also recently named to the College Sporting News' Fabulous 50 Team for a third consecutive season.
A starter in 43 of 50 games played at Furman, the Madisonville, Tenn., native and three-time All-Southern Conference selection fashioned a 3.28 grade point average in political science. The 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III pick has completed all requirements for graduation.
Felton is currently rated among the Top 5 eligible fullbacks for the 2008 NFL Draft, scheduled for April 26-27.
