GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman University's five home football games this fall will be televised over WYCW Channel 62, director of athletics Mike Buddie announced today.
Known as "CW62" and located in Spartanburg, S.C., where it shares studios with CBS-affiliate WSPA-TV Channel 7, it serves the Upstate of South Carolina, western North Carolina, and northeastern Georgia, which comprises the nation's 35th largest television market.
"I'm excited our student-athletes will be seen on television this fall to a greater potential audience," said Buddie in making the announcement. "Coach Hendrix has elevated the expectations and excitement surrounding our program, and I hope that we can grow our fan base through this partnership with WYCW."
In addition to being carried on CW62, all five Furman home contests will be broadcast over ESPN, via either its ESPN3 or (subscription) ESPN+ channel. ESPN reserves the right to assign broadcasts to either channel.
Furman's five home games include Sept. 15 vs. Colgate (1:00 p.m.), Sept. 29 vs. Western Carolina (2:00 p.m.), Oct. 13 vs. Wofford (1:00 p.m.), Oct. 20 vs. Samford (2:00 p.m.), and Nov. 3 vs. Chattanooga (1:00 p.m.).
Set to again deliver the play-by-play action for all Paladin home broadcasts is Bob Mihalic. Joining him with analysis will be former Paladin quarterback and NFL coaching great Sam Wyche.
The Paladins are coming off an 8-5 campaign under Hendrix, the consensus Southern Conference Coach of the Year who directed Furman to seven consecutive wins and the FCS playoffs in his inaugural head coaching campaign.
Furman kicks off its 2018 season on Sept. 1 against Clemson.
