Game Day Chattanooga At Furman - The Paladin Party Deck

Sep 17, 2016

After opening the season with two road games, Furman kicks off the 2016 home schedule this Saturday when it entertains defending Southern Conference co-champion Chattanooga in a 7:00 p.m. contest at Paladin Stadium. The game is officially labeled as a "Blackout" contest with Paladin fans invited to wear black to match the team's black jerseys. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a "PaladinProudBlackout" t-shirt. Saturday's clash, which will be televised by My40 and carried over ESPN3, will be radio broadcast over the Furman IMG Sports Network headed up by flagship station FoxSports 1440/Greenville. It will also be available via in-stadium transmitter (107.7 FM) and audio streamed over TuneIn.com, which is also accessible through FurmanPaladins.com. StatBroadcast live stats driven by Furman will be available through FurmanPaladins.com Fans can also follow the game via Twitter @PaladinFootball and @Furman Paladins Tickets for the Furman-Chattanooga game and all Furman athletic events may be purchased online 24/7 at FurmanPaladins.com, by calling the Timmons Arena Box Office at 864-294-3099 between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, or on game day through box office locations on either side of Paladin Stadium. The Timmons Arena Box Office and the Paladin Stadium East Stands Box office open two hours prior to kick off on game day. After opening the season at defending Big Ten champion and FBS playoff semifinalist Michigan State on Sept. 9 and facing FCS 15th-ranked and reigning SoCon co-champion The Citadel last week in Charleston, Furman (0-2, 0-1 SoCon) continues its challenging September schedule against Chattanooga (2-0, 0-0 SoCon), which enters Saturday's game ranked fourth in the FCS and the owner of back-to-back season opening shutouts of Shorter (66-0) and Presbyterian (34-0). The Mocs, who fashioned a 9-4 record and went 6-1 in SoCon play a year ago to claim a share of the league crown with The Citadel, also went two rounds deep into the FCS playoffs. Furman sports a 27-18 advantage in its series with Chattanooga, built primarily on the strength of a 15-game series winning streak rolled up against the Mocs from 1995-09. The Paladins have dropped the last four meetings, however, and five of the last six clashes with UTC, which has won three straight in Paladin Stadium — something only two other foes have accomplished: Western Carolina (1983, '84, & '86) and Georgia Southern (2008, '10, & '12). The Paladins take on FBS transition foe Coastal Carolina next week in Conway, S.C. For a complete summary of game details and promotions, please see the bottom of this release.
