Furman (0-4) opened the 2016 season with a 28-13 loss to FBS 12th-ranked Michigan State and dropped a 19-14 decision at FCS 15th-ranked The Citadel and 21-14 verdict to FCS fourth-ranked Chattanooga before falling, 41-21, last Saturday at FBS transition foe Coastal Carolina.

Looking to avoid the program's first 0-5 start since 1979, the Paladins will be facing an upstart Kennesaw State (2-1) program that is in its second season of competition.  The Owls are coming off a 36-28 road victory over Duquesne last Saturday.

Kennesaw State's coaching staff features a pair of former Paladins in quarterback Cody Worley (2007-10), who mentors the Owls' signal callers, and safety Andrew Thacker (2004-07), who directs KSU's linebackers.

Saturday's contest will mark the first meeting between the two schools in football.  The Paladins and Owls are scheduled to play Oct. 5, 2019, at Kennesaw State.
