Furman Names James Strong As Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman head coach Jeff Jackson announced the hiring of James Strong as assistant men's basketball coach on Tuesday.
Strong joins the Furman staff after spending the last six seasons as Director of Basketball Video Operations for the men's and women's basketball programs at Vanderbilt.
"We believe James Strong will by an excellent addition to the Furman basketball program." said Jackson. "His coaching and recruiting will be valuable as we build a successful program."
Strong joined the Vanderbilt staff in 2000 following a four-year playing career with the Commodores. He helped guide the program to three winning seasons, one NCAA Tournament berth and two trips to the National Invitation Tournament. As a junior, Strong led the Southeastern Conference and set a school record with 77 steals.
A native of Huntsville, Ala., he earned a Bachelor's degree in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University in 2000.
Furman will host the Jeff Jackson Basketball Camp beginning this summer. Overnight camp is scheduled for June 25-29, with day camp sessions set for June 26-30 and July 24-28. The Paladin staff will hold a weekend specialty camp on June 24-25 and will also host a day camp in Simpsonville, S.C., June 19-23.
