Furman Set To Face UNC Greensboro In SoCon First Round On Friday

Greenville, S.C. - The Furman men's basketball team, fifth seed from the South Division, will open Southern Conference Tournament play against North Division No. 4 seed UNC Greensboro at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Friday at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C.

The Spartans topped Georgia Southern 81-79 on Monday evening to clinch the fourth seed in the SoCon North Division and help Furman hold off the Eagles for the fifth spot in the South Division. Forward Ben Stywall guided UNCG to the victory with 30 points and 11 rebounds.

The Paladins enter Friday's game at 13-16 overall and 7-11 in the SoCon while UNCG finished the regular season at 7-22 overall and 6-12 in league play. Furman split the regular season series with the Spartans claiming a 72-64 victory in Greenville on February 4, after falling 88-78 at UNCG on January 9.

The winner of Friday's game will advance to face SoCon South No. 1 seed Wofford on Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals.
