Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's basketball team will look to rebound from Monday's home loss to Georgia Southern when it travels to Charleston. S.C., to face The Citadel Bulldogs on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. at McAlister Fieldhouse.
Furman, on the strength of Tony Anderson's career-high 20 points, held off a late Bulldog rally to claim a 63-59 victory in the previous regular season meeting between the two teams on January 22, in Greenville.
The Citadel enters the game at 7-18 overall and 4-10 in the Southern Conference under the direction of first-year head coach Ed Conroy. Furman, which had its three-game winning streak snapped in Monday's loss, continues to lead the race for the fifth and final first round bye in the upcoming SoCon Tournament with a 13-12 overall record and 7-7 league mark. With a victory over The Citadel and a Wofford loss against the College of Charleston on Saturday, Furman could eliminate four teams from contention for the first round pass. The Paladins would have only Western Carolina (7-8) left to battle in the race for fifth.
Furman returns to Greenville, S.C., for its final appearance in front of the home fans this season when it hosts the College of Charleston on Monday night at the Bi-Lo Center. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
