The Furman men's basketball team continues its four-game home stretch playing host to College of Charleston in a 5 p.m. regionally televised contest Saturday at Timmons Arena. The game can be seen live on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS).
Furman (2-15, 1-7) holds a 39-29 series edge over the College of Charleston entering Saturday's 69th meeting between the schools, but the Cougars have won six straight and nine of the last 10 games in the series. Charleston outlasted Furman for an 80-77 double overtime victory in the last meeting between the SoCon South Division rivals last February at the Bi-Lo Center. Dontaye Draper led the Cougars with 18 points while Furman's Moussa Diagne poured in a career-high 34 points and Alex Opacic added 18 in the loss.
The Paladins enter Saturday's game on a four-game skid after dropping a 73-51 decision against Davidson on Wednesday night. Noah States provided a bright spot for the Furman notching his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Alex Opacic followed up career-highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds against Elon with 14 points and seven rebounds versus the Wildcats.
Charleston (9-8, 4-3), under the direction of second-year head coach Bobby Cremins, moved back above .500 in league play with a 70-60 victory over Wofford on Thursday at John Kresse Arena. Tony White Jr. leads four Cougars averaging in double figures at 13.2 points per game. Jermaine Johnson heads the CofC frontline with 12.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
