Greenville, S.C. -
The Furman men's basketball team will tip-off a four-game homestand Saturday hosting Southern Conference North Division foe Elon in a 4 p.m. contest at Timmons Arena.
The Paladins, who will play host to Elon, Davidson (Jan. 16), College of Charleston (Jan. 19) and Appalachian State (Jan. 24) before returning to the road at Georgia Southern on January 26, will look to earn a season split from the Phoenix after dropping a 66-61 decision at Alumni Gym last month.
The Phoenix (6-9, 4-3) rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to drop Furman in the first meeting of the season with junior forward Ola Atoyebi leading the way with 18 points and six rebounds. Furman suffered a similar second half slump Thursday night as Western Carolina rallied from a 41-28 deficit at the intermission to down the Paladins 73-65.
Furman (2-13, 1-5) trails the all-time series with Elon 3-2, but captured a victory in the only previous meeting at Timmons Arena during the 2004-05 campaign.
The Paladins return to action Wednesday night hosting defending SoCon champion Davidson. Tip-off if scheduled for 7 p.m. at Timmons Arena.
