Greenville, S.C. -
The Furman men's basketball team goes in search of its third straight victory when it hosts Southern Conference North Division leading Chattanooga in a 4 p.m. contest Saturday afternoon at Timmons Arena.
The Paladins, who ousted Howard 67-62 in the Shamrock Classic consolation game on December 30, returned home to top Western Carolina 64-60 on Thursday night behind a career-high 14 points, four rebounds and four assists from freshman point guard Jordan Miller.
Chattanooga won its fifth game in its last six with an 85-78 victory at Wofford to improve to 9-5 overall and 4-0 inside league play. South Carolina transfer Stephen McDowell leads the Mocs averaging 15.2 points per game while forward Nicchaeus Doaks has accounted for 11.9 points per contest.
The Mocs hold a 43-22 advantage in the all-time series with Furman, but the Paladins have won four straight meetings and nine of the last 12 versus Chattanooga. Alex Opacic scored a career-high 20 points as Furman claimed a 69-56 win over Chattanooga in Greenville last January. The Paladins completed the season sweep with a 68-61 win in Chattanooga the following month.
Furman will travel to Western Carolina on January 10, before opening a four-game homestand at Timmons Arena against the Elon Phoenix on January 12, at 4 p.m.
