It also represented the 250th career coaching victory and 135th SoCon coaching win for Wildcat mentor Bob McKillop, who moved into a tie with former Chattanooga head coach Mack McCarthy for most conference victories in SoCon history.

The loss snapped a nine-game home winning streak for Furman, which got 16 points from Tony Carter and 15 points from Robby Bostain.

Furman countered with a 44.9 percent shooting effort (22x49), but the Paladins struggled at the free throw line, converting only 9-of-20 attempts for a season low 45.0 percent.

With the game tied 29-29 at intermission, Davidson outscored Furman 10-6 over the first four minutes of the second half to go on top 39-34 following a Morton 3-pointer at the 15:59 mark.

Furman answered with a basket by Bostain and a steal and layup by Carter with 12:30 left to make it 39-38.

Davidson then fashioned a 9-2 spurt to take a 48-41 lead following a Winters 3-pointer at the 10:21 juncture. After Furman fought back with a free throw by Ben Earle and a Geore Brozos 3-pointer to make it 48-45, the Wildcats countered with a Winters jumper and a Morton 3-pointer for a 53-45 advantage with 7:29 remaining.
