Greenville, S.C. - Robby Bostain and Eric Webb each netted a team-high 15 points to lead Southern Conference South Division leading Furman to an 81-57 victory over The Citadel in front of a crowd of 2,972 Saturday at Timmons Arena.

The Paladins (11-6, 5-1 SoCon) shot a blistering 69.2% (18-26) from the field in the second half and sunk 11-of-22 three-point attempts in the contest to stretch its winning streak to four and down the Bulldogs for the sixth straight time.

"It was great to see us come out focused and ready to play this afternoon," said Furman coach Larry Davis. "We showed a lot of patience, especially at the beginning of the second half, and that was the difference."

After holding a 35-29 halftime advantage, Furman opened the second half on a 10-2 run to extend its cushion to 45-31 with 17:48 remaining. Bostain and Tony Carter, who totaled 14 points, both buried three-pointers to key the run to open the half. Carter played 28 minutes without surrendering a turnover. The senior point guard has played back-to-back games without a turnover and has committed just one miscue in the last three games.

Webb converted 5-of-8 three-point attempts while grabbing four boards and handing out three assists. Bostain narrowly missed a triple-double notching nine assists and pulling down eight rebounds to go with his team-high 15 points. Furman shot 53.6% (30-56) from the field and 83.3% (10-12) from the foul line.

Forward Demetrius Nelson led The Citadel (6-12, 0-6 SoCon) with 16 points while Donny McLendon and Dante Terry each chipped in 14 points in the loss. Terry made 4-of-7 three-pointers in the final 20 minutes to score 12 of his 14 points in the second half. The Citadel made just 22-of-57 (38.6%) of its field goal attempts and only 7-of-25 three-point attempts.

Furman's 5-1 start in SoCon play is its best start since beginning league play 8-1 during the 1990-91 campaign. The win improves the Paladins to 8-1 at home while The Citadel drops its ninth straight game.

Furman returns to action Monday when its travels to Elon for an 8:00 p.m. contest against the SoCon North Division leading Phoenix. The Citadel will continue its road trip on Monday at UNC Greensboro.
