Mark Vanderslice joined the Furman men's basketball coaching staff in May of 2008 after spending the previous four seasons at the university of Toledo.

He served as assistant coach for the Rockets men's basketball program for two seasons after spending the previous two seasons as the school's director of basketball operations and graduate assistant manager. During the 2006-07 season, he helped guide the Rockets to their first Mid-American Conference regular season title in 27 years and a trip to the National Invitation Tournament.

"We are excited about adding Mark to our staff," said Jackson. "His experience in recruiting and on the floor make him a great hire. We are looking forward to his tenure at Furman."

Prior to his stint at Toledo, Vanderslice served as an assistant under head coach Duane Sheldon at NCAA Division III Heidelberg College, where he received his master's degree in business administration. He played his collegiate basketball at UNC Asheville for coach Eddie Biendenbach before serving as an administrative assistant for the Bulldogs from 2000-02.

The Salisbury, N.C., native and 2002 UNCA graduate earned all-county and all-region honors as a prep standout at West Rowan High School. Vanderslice helped the Falcons capture the 1997 state title as a senior.
